I bought this book for my Kindle when I saw it compared to Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. I adored that book and was excited to try something along the same lines. This didn't quite live up to my expectations but was still an enjoyable read.I really liked the overall plot of the book. Irelyn gets herself into some major trouble when she has a one night stand with the smokin' lead singer of a band. Problem is that she has a boyfriend she's been in a long-term relationship with AND that she can't stop hooking up with band guy, Lucas. I love when characters make bad decisions and ultimately come out on top. I also loved Lucas and his bandmates/family. I read this book super fast to find out how everything was going to turn out, it was hard to put down.
All that being said there were a few things that kept me from rating it higher than I did (3 stars). There was a recurring theme of Irelyn blushing, like all the time. It started to feel contrived. Please keep in mind that I love a well-placed red-cheeked gal. It can add so much to a scene when put in the right place AND used sparingly. My last issue was that in a book like this that promises some angst and sex...I kind of missed the sex :) There was all the build up and then...*play music* cut to landscape shot out of the window. I'm no perv, but I want to know what these people are doing with (to) each other *waggles eyebrows*
I would say that if you like books in this genre that you should go ahead and read it. It was definitely still worth it for me and I'll be reading the second book in this series soon too. I could see room for improvement but was overall satisfied with the story.

All the Wrong Reasons by JL Paul is a charming and entertaining story.
Character run down
Irelyn- aspiring author
Dustin- Irelyn's long-term boyfriend
Lucas- a guy Irelyn meets one night that changes her life forever
Willamina- Irelyn's unconventional but loving mother
Tommy- Irelyn's younger cousin who is raised by Irelyn's mother
Bailey & Morgan- Irelyn's loyal and supportive best friends
Irelyn's grandfather- a controlling and arrogant bastard
All the Wrong Reason has a great plot!! Irelyn finds herself in a difficult position, and she must decide which path to take. Should she do what's easiest and makes other people happy? Or should she follow her heart and do what makes her truly happy?
Other people's lives and feelings hang on her decision so she must decide.
This was a great adult romance. I wish Irelyn could have made some realizations and decisions sooner than she did, but she got there in the end so I guess that's what counts.
I gave All the Wrong Reasons by JL Paul 3 STARS (3.5 STARS). I couldn't help but compare this novel to Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens (which happens to be one of my absolute favorite novels). All the Wrong Reasons was unique and its own story, but it resembled Thoughtless in a few ways. Both novels are about a love triangle where the "other" guy is in a rock band that frequently plays at the same location. I really enjoyed All the Wrong Reasons, but if I had to pick between the two novels I would pick Thoughtless 10 times out of 10. However, I strongly recommend this novel to fans of Thoughtless and vice versa. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Vicious Circles.

If this book was recommended to you b/c you liked "Thoughtless", forget about it. "All the wrong reasons" is a very poor imitation. The plot very closely resembles "Thoughtless" but the writing is far more juvenile, the characters aren't fleshed out at all, it is hard to feel any sort of connection to any of them. The heroine is a selfish, immature, gutless girl and *Spoiler* sleeps with the hero on their first meeting without so much as a conversation beforehand. Yet she supposedly loves her BF. Also, the author set it up poorly, we had no introduction to the BF until after h meets and sleeps with H. So we don't get the full sense of her betrayal. Irelyn doesn't really seem to feel too guilty as she then sleeps with Lucas (H) literally every week but she isn't really having a sexual relationship with her BF for most of the book anyway. (She sleeps with him once). And he doesn't seem to mind AT ALL that she has a BF and that he is the OM.
Although I disliked Keira from Thoughtless, I pretty much hated this heroine, Irelyn. It's probably just bad writing, but she never seemed to love Dustin, we saw no sweet moments b/t them, and we also don't really see that she feels very guilty. There's also no real fear of her being caught b/c her BF goes to a different school in a different city. If the main theme of a book is cheating, there should be some element of fear of being caught red-handed, if nothing else it provides a sense of stress or excitement, this book is lacking both. TBH, I didn't care what happened to any of these people and I disliked the h so much that she didn't even deserve her happy ending. Stick w/ "Thoughtless" and don't waste your time or money on this book.
